MAKER FOR A DAY
Join us as an artist for a day at our open stage: BACK TO BASE. The place in Amsterdam to showcase your act, try out new material and enter into a dialogue with audiences on your work. The basic facilities provided on stage are kept to a minimum so the emphasis is firmly on content and artistic quality. We ensure that practising professionals are also present, so you will receive sound feedback. Next to that you will receive reactions form the regular audience about their experience. With all this feedback you can lift your material to a higher level.
The open stage is organised twice a year, in spring and autumn, and is intended for all makers with an affinity for circus. You can try-out a new act, revise an old act or experiment with new material. Your production can last up to 10 minutes. The focus should be on the content of the act. Basic audio and lighting facilities are provided. The performance space measures 11x10 metres, and has a black ballet floor. Rigging can be provided in consultation. Extended set-up and take-down times are not possible.

MAKER FOR A WEEK
During this trajectory, circus makers are able to spend a time working on a short-term piece in a rehearsal space in Amsterdam. This could be used to go deeper into your artistic process, to try out new material or investigate theoretical or audience-related matters. The only condition is that the research relates in some way to the circus. During this period, we will provide you with support in relation to your production, artistic and technical requirements, supplemented by a modest production budget. The research can have a range of outcomes: a first sketch for a new production; a complete new act; or the conclusion that it was a good attempt and that's it. A small presentation of your research, to a small audience, is part of the course.
This trajectory is suitable for all circus makers. Whether you are a recent graduate or have already enjoyed a long career. As long as you have a concrete idea of the research you wish to carry out. In the selection process, we look at the originality and feasibility of your research idea and how well it is supported. Read more about TENT's vision to get an idea of our working method. From 2025-2028 onwards we work in collaboration with Theater de Landing in Amstelveen.

LONG-TERM MAKERS
Over the years, TENT has supported several long-term development trajectories: Maker for a Year, Maker for Two Years and, Maker for Four years. TENT provides artistic, productional, technical, and business support, offers a creation budget, and works together with you to find suitable partners, funding opportunities, and presentation venues. Each trajectory is tailored to the specific needs and ambitions of the artist. An artist may also be a collective. TENT is always interested in new concepts and ideas. In some cases, artists move on to a longer trajectory after participating in the research programme (Artist for a Week), when TENT recognizes strong potential in their work. The short-term trajectories are open to all circus artists, whether you have just graduated or already have an established career. Through the long-term trajectories, TENT supports circus artists and collectives in taking the next step in their artistic development and professional career. Artists are invited by TENT to participate in these long-term trajectories. If you have questions or would like to share an idea with us, please contact us at [email protected].
