I am Luuk Brantjes, circus artist from Oosterbeek. In the two years I studied at Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam, I specialised in the discipline of teeterboard. In 2017 I continued my studies at the University of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm, where I met my current circus partners. Together we form 4onboard, a circus company specialising in teeterboard. In 2020, I received my bachelor's degree from DOCH with the act Safety First.
Besides the projects with 4onboard, I get to find my way in circus as a maker. My interest lies in exploring the boundaries of my discipline. I am curious how people look at teeterboard and how I can stretch the discipline. Common themes in my work are playfulness, balance, weightlessness, peace and fragility. In one of my earlier works, a short performance called "U P", I was looking for a way to convey the feeling of calmness and weightlessness to the audience. To that end, I combined video projection with live performance.
In 2021, I am working on a project in which I approach the teeterboard as an entity. In line with that, at TENT - as Maker for a week - I investigate how the discipline is influenced when the teeterboard partner is replaced by an object.
