BACK TO BASE
The open stage for contemporary circus.
One stage, one spot, five acts. Be surprised by fresh work by contemporary circus makers. Five artists and companies - selected by an open call - present an act, an excerpt or a work in progress. Sometimes they show their work for the first time outside the context of circus training, or they are more experienced artists, trying something out for an audience.
During Back to Base, you are in the front row when it comes to the latest developments in contemporary circus from the Netherlands and you will be introduced to various circus disciplines. Afterwards, you are welcome to join the Circus Café where conversations between the artists and the audience arise.
The audience always consists of a mix of local audiences, circus enthusiasts, professionals. Back to Base takes place twice a year.
Made possible by Keep an Eye Foundation, Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK), Performing Arts Fund NL.
