TENT house for contemporary circus

I am Sven Peetoom (1993), an Indonesian film and theatre maker from Rotterdam. I jumped on my blue Giant after getting my bachelor’s degree in Film and Literature Studies in Leiden to cycle 600 kilometres to Ebeltoft in Denmark to study directing at the European Film College for a year. Since then, I have been working full-time in film and related arts. My fiction films and documentaries have been screened at festivals such as IFFR, Dutch Film Festival and Film by The Sea and shown on all regional broadcasters, NPO3 and NPOstart.

I love it when art forms meet; so, I make films with theatre influences, spoken word and visual art and theatre with video installation elements and documentary stories. I also enjoy working with real-world material and am often out in the harsh outdoors, from the peaks of the Pyrenees to the glaciers of Iceland.

I will also combine my cycling love and interdisciplinary approach in filming Liza van Brakel's Galop tour. Together with Liza, I will cycle across the country, and, via all self-devised tinkering rigs, I will attach the camera to my bike in the most creative ways. Expect a road movie full of circus, camping and a good dose of gruelling but also an intimate portrait of the Netherlands from the small villages to the biggest festivals.
